Relations of JSC IDGC of the North-West with the media are built on principles of transparency, responsiveness, and accuracy of the information provided on the Company’s activity.
As per independent survey of information activity, JSC IDGC of North-West in 2014 was in the top five most frequently mentioned in the media companies among the enterprises of JSC Russian Grids power grid group.
In 2014, the official website of the Company posted over 850 press releases, and the media published about 12,000 articles in 75% of which JSC IDGC of the North-West was the main object. 68% of the above publications were neutral, 30% were in a positive context. The number of the negative materials did not exceed 2%.

One of the effective mechanisms of communication with the media was the maximum openness of the top management of the Company and readiness for open dialogue with the media. Thus, in 2014, Alexander Letyagin, General Director of the Company, had a large press conference on topical issues of the power grid complex of the North-West of Russia and practical steps for their solution. The pressmen of the federal and regional media got answers to the most pressing questions of power industry development, as the result publicity capital of the Company increased by nearly one-third.
Similar events with participation of the regional media were held in the regions serviced by the Company. All of them were devoted to topical issues of energy development: transfer of the guaranteeing supplier status in the Novgorod region, development of the pilot project for acceptance of grid connection applications by telephone in Komienergo branch, preparation for and work in the autumn-winter period in the Arkhangelsk region.
Despite the large number of negative weather phenomena that interfered with the work of power industry specialists during the autumn-winter season 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 prompt actions by the press service of the Company helped to maintain a neutral information background and to avoid a negative attitude among the population.
The joint actions by the public relations department, power supply department, and legal department provided to good attitude of the public to transfer and reception of the guaranteeing supplier status in the Murmansk and Novgorod regions.
In 2014, JSC IDGC of the North-West launched a new official website, which was recognized among the journalistic community as a modern communication resource that allows media representatives to quickly obtain the required information. The journalists and editors of such newspapers and news agencies as Vedomosti, Kommersant, Interfax, some professional newspapers and magazines addressed their thanks to the Company.
The most important initiatives of the public relations department were special communication projects, which resulted in publications made in the regional media.
The interactive project dedicated to the 10th anniversary of JSC IDGC of the North-West showed all the key milestones in the Company development through the achievements of its employees.
New communication portal Light People became the basis for publications on the power engineering profession in the regional media.
The focus of the press-service of JSC IDGC of the North-West to maximum satisfaction and attracting attention of the media became basis of the methodological work by the public relations department and standardized procedure of preparing press releases for the media. The concept of preparing press releases in infrastructure electric grid company was awarded a special diploma in the nomination New Methods of Corporate Communications at inter-regional PR competition Silver Threads 2014.
